South African Marketplace Our Town Publishes Public Ledger: 27 Shoppers, R268k Baskets in Month One

Our Town, a South African local e-commerce aggregator, has published a fully transparent public ledger of its first month's operations. Instead of processing transactions directly, the platform walks shoppers to the individual checkouts of various local makers.
In its first month, the platform facilitated 27 hand-offs to checkouts, generating a total basket value of over R268,000, and currently features 15 local makers. The open ledger details every hand-off, tracking the moment a checkout link is followed and the corresponding basket value, aiming to provide complete transparency for both makers and consumers.
