From AI reference images to a rideable Fortnite raptor, with a 28K-triangle final model

A Reddit creator documented a full AI-to-3D pipeline that turned a robot raptor concept into a rideable Fortnite mount.
The workflow started with AI-generated reference images from Grok Imagine, then used Nano Banana Pro to fix one specific design detail. From there the creator moved through image-to-3D generation, Hunyuan 3D Studio for low-poly retopology and UV unwrapping, Trellis2 in ComfyUI for texturing and upscaling, and Blender for cleanup, rigging, and weight painting.
A few practical takeaways stood out:
- Splitting the model into separate parts before the 3D pass helped keep geometry manageable
- The final asset landed at 28K triangles
- Unreal Engine retargeting made it possible to get the mount moving in UEFN
- Remaining issues are mostly hard-surface wobble, texturing, and weight-paint workflow improvements
