PostHog runs a pricing A/B test: 7-day free trial vs. straight to paid
The poster says this is the first time they’ve run a proper pricing experiment. The setup compares two onboarding flows:
- A: 7-day free trial
- B: pay immediately
The screenshot shows the experiment in PostHog’s feature-flag and metrics UI. The hypothesis is that a card-required 7-day trial can increase successful checkout completion after a demo, without lowering paid conversion quality.
The image also shows the experiment is running with 21 total exposures so far:
- paidnow: 8 exposures
- sevendaytrial: 13 exposures
The post frames the change as a way to understand how the product is actually used, instead of guessing from incomplete data.
