NVIDIA backs open models, says frontier AI needs both closed and open weights

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang shared a letter the company signed arguing that open models matter.
The letter says AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country. It argues that open models improve safety and cybersecurity, speed up innovation and diffusion, and support sovereignty. The post frames the future as a world with both frontier closed models and frontier open models, not just one or the other.
