OpenAI surfaces a Recommended speed setting that currently maps to Fast
mawhii · reddit · 2026-07-27
OpenAI’s Codex and Work settings now show a Recommended speed option that currently maps to Fast, suggesting the company is surfacing a new default behavior in the workspace UI. The screenshot also shows default model and reasoning selections, indicating this is a product-side control change rather than a model release.
The post is essentially a UI PSA: users should check their defaults, because the product may automatically select the faster setting while still presenting it as recommended.
