NVIDIA-backed open-model push gains another notable signatory
Banghua Zhang says lmsysorg and radixark have co-signed the Open Weights letter, arguing that AGI should not be built “a thousand times behind a thousand walls.” He frames the case for open AI as a way to reduce duplicated work and let every breakthrough become a starting point for others.
The thread also cites NVIDIA’s public stance: the company says the world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models, and that open models can improve safety, cybersecurity, innovation, diffusion, and sovereignty.
