Hermes AI Coding Tool Weekend Update: 8.7x Faster Startup
Teknium · x · 2026-07-27
The development tool Hermes merged 51 PRs over the weekend, bringing significant performance and stability improvements.
- Performance: Worktree startup is 8.7x faster, reducing load time from 14s to 1.8s via parallelized caching. Compression timeouts are smarter, dynamically adapting to slow models.
- Stability & Recovery: Introduces offline session recovery, allowing corrupted state.db to recover gracefully without destructive resets. Vulnerable SQLite builds are now auto-patched.
- Desktop & Commands: /goal commands queue when busy instead of vanishing. Fixed slash command routing to target the active chat, and @session links are now clickable.
