Credit-Based Pricing Amplifies Agent Failure Pain, Users Demand Feedback Loops
msg · x · 2026-07-27
A developer criticized the prevalent credit-based pricing model for AI agents. Compared to subscriptions, paying per credit makes the cost of model failures feel much more painful.
Using Descript (powered by Claude 3.5 Sonnet) as an example, the author points out that when an agent burns credits on bad outputs, the user is forced to eat the cost. They urge vendors to build a clean feedback loop, allowing users to submit logs and expected outcomes to help improve the models, rather than just waiting for the models to get better on their own.
