‘Labs’ is narrative architecture, not a neutral label for AI companies

The post argues that words like “Labs” in AI, and “Foundations” in crypto, are not neutral labels — they are narrative architecture.
The choice of name shapes what people are supposed to believe the organization is for, and that belief in turn confers power. It builds a more noble, experimental image even when the entity is ultimately a for-profit company.
