Stripe is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire OpenRouter in a deal that could value the AI model marketplace at $10 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The post says the deal is not final and could still fall through, but it would fit Stripe’s broader push to own more of the AI stack. Stripe already powers payments for many AI companies and recently bought Bridge for $1.1 billion for stablecoin infrastructure, as well as Privy for crypto wallets.
If it happens, the acquisition would further position Stripe as a financial infrastructure layer for AI-native businesses.
