Tesla says it will soon reveal the site and full plan for Terafab, a development fab in Austin meant to remove the chip bottleneck for Optimus.
- Musk said Tesla needs to solve memory, logic, and advanced packaging to scale humanoid robot production.
- The company has reportedly ordered equipment for a fab that would handle lithography mask production, logic chips, memory, packaging, and testing under one roof.
- The pitch is faster iteration: design a chip, make it, package it, test it, and spin the next version from the same facility.
