GPU rental rates in China surge to 3x US prices, driving adoption of domestic chips
zephyr_z9 · x · 2026-07-22
According to an AI expert in China, GPU rental rates in China are now 3x higher than in the US, while smuggled systems cost 2x-2.5x (previously 1.3x-1.7x). Chinese alternatives like Huawei and Cambricon are much cheaper, leading to rapid adoption by Chinese labs. CXMT's HBM production will determine accelerator shipment volumes. Zhipu recently acquired XCoreSigma to accelerate CUDA kernel porting.
