OpenAI plans tens of billions in Georgia data center build with 3.2 GW of power

OpenAI is planning to spend tens of billions of dollars on a new data center complex near Savannah, Georgia, according to Bloomberg.
- The company has secured 3.2 gigawatts of power in Effingham County through Georgia Power.
- Bloomberg says the site could rank among OpenAI’s largest data center builds to date.
- Several hundred megawatts are expected to come online in 2028, with development stretching to 2032.
- OpenAI is reportedly seeking partners to help finance and develop the site, and may operate part of it itself.
