Standalone Codex Windows app can peg WMI at 90–100% CPU on one project
A GitHub issue on openai/codex reports that the standalone Windows app triggers WmiPrvSE.exe to run at 90–100% CPU whenever one specific local project is opened.
- The bug reproduces even in a brand-new empty conversation in that project.
- The same project works normally in the VS Code extension.
- Windows Event Viewer repeatedly logs WMI Activity Event ID 5858.
- Other projects appear to work fine.
The report suggests the problem is specific to the standalone Windows app rather than Codex itself or the project content.
