SkyPilot raises $20M+ and launches an enterprise AI compute platform
SkyPilot says it has raised $20M+ and is launching SkyPilot Platform after four years of open-sourcing the project at Berkeley.
- The company was built because no single cloud could provide enough GPUs for its lab, and that problem has only worsened.
- It argues frontier AI teams waste time firefighting fragmented compute across providers, migrating workloads and babysitting infra instead of training models.
- SkyPilot says its software turns scattered compute into a single AI supercomputer and is already used by teams including Applied Compute, Abridge, Hippocratic AI, H Company, and Nubank.
- The project reports 14M+ downloads, 280+ contributors, and top deployments running 1,000+ nodes and 10,000+ GPUs.
- The new platform is pitched as a turnkey enterprise control plane for AI compute.
