A repost of Nic Carter’s argument that the US government does not owe OpenAI or Anthropic a viable business model. If selling tokens stops working because of distillation, cheap clones, or Chinese AI progress, American businesses and consumers will still benefit from cheaper digital cognition. Hyperscalers should be fine; the real question is whether token merchants can adapt and build new business models.
