Hermes ships a big desktop and routing update
Teknium · x · 2026-07-20
Hermes shipped a large batch of updates across desktop, model routing, and developer tooling.
- Desktop: live subagent transcripts, smoother streaming with per-token re-rendering removed, better custom endpoint setup in the GUI, more reliable terminal cursor detection, persistent session selection, and fixes for non-git/ZIP Windows installs.
- Models / routing: the default X Search model changed from grok-4.20-reasoning to grok-4.5 for faster responses, and Hermes now auto-detects Kimi’s advanced K3 model.
- Developer tools: the CLI /model picker is much faster by skipping redundant provider probing.
- Stability: several UI and workflow bugs were fixed, including model selection, profile switching, Git-status hangs, and routing persistence.
The post also says Hermes merged 50+ PRs in the last 24 hours, suggesting an aggressive release cadence.
