Why the Jacobian conjecture matters for AI and math

My take on the Jacobian conjecture:
- It is very bullish for the near-term impact of AI on math. The author expects more results like this soon.
- If you see mathematics research mainly as solving long-standing open problems, then this is a big deal.
- From a pure scientific perspective, it is still mainly interesting because it resolves a natural question, but it may not be especially generative beyond that.
The author says they are most excited about the first point, even though they personally do not care much about this conjecture itself.
