Monumental Raises $32M for Construction Robots

European construction robotics company Monumental has closed a **$32 million Series B** round led by Khosla Ventures. The company builds autonomous bricklaying robots and has already constructed **100+** structures on real European sites, including houses, schools, community centers, hotels, and canal walls. Their robots are driven by a proprietary AI software platform named Atrium, focusing on millimeter-level precision on-site. What stands out most is their business model: contractors **don't buy the robots**. Instead, they hire Monumental as an "autonomous subcontractor" and pay based on completed walls or output. The post highlights that the US construction industry faces chronic labor shortages and stagnant productivity, meaning this "pay-for-results" robotic service model is highly scalable.
