Sharpa Robotics demonstrated its MoDE-VLA system: enabling a robot equipped with dual dexterous hands and tactile sensing to autonomously peel an apple.
The post emphasizes that the real challenge isn't merely holding the apple, but the need to continuously adjust grip force, pressure, and motion during peeling, as the apple's shape constantly changes. This illustrates that contact-rich manipulation remains one of robotics' toughest problems, and that tactile feedback and fine dexterous manipulation are far more critical than vision alone.
