LightTact Optical Tactile Sensor Technology

Introduces an innovative tactile sensor technology named LightTact. Traditional tactile sensors rely on physical deformation for measurement, making it difficult to perceive gentle contacts like water, face cream, or soft films; LightTact, however, switches to an optical detection approach.
Using an ambient light blocking configuration, this technology only allows scattered light from actual contact points to pass through, outputting high-contrast raw visual-tactile images. Its advantages include:
- Immunity to material properties, contact force, surface color, and lighting conditions
- Ability to accurately capture the moment of contact with liquids, soft films, etc.
- Outputs spatially aligned images that can be directly read and processed by Vision-Language Models (VLMs)
