Pointwise Rerankers: Faster and Surprisingly Strong

Sentence Transformers doesn't yet support a listwise reranker for processing multiple documents at once, but the pointwise version is ready to use and performs impressively.
- ViDoRe V3 pointwise 2B: 59.87
- jina-reranker-m0: 59.40
- Qwen3-VL-Reranker-2B: 59.18
- Additionally, the pointwise 2B version is about 3.2x faster than the 2B listwise version.
This shows that in many scenarios, the pointwise approach already strikes an excellent balance between performance and speed.
