User Switches from OpenAI to Claude After Hands-on Test
BellaDonDoncha · reddit · 2026-07-17
A long-time OpenAI subscriber shared their experience of repeatedly failing to create a simple budget spreadsheet, as the model couldn't even handle basic reading and processing. After switching to Claude, it successfully read the file, identified missing date information, and generated an Excel file with formulas.
The final output included a multi-sheet budget, a billing calendar, due date reminders, payroll calculations, and charts for debt APR and optimal repayment dates. Impressed that the entire process took only 5 messages, the author decided to switch to Claude completely.
