Embodied AI Data: Selling Hours is a Dead End
机器之心 · wechat · 2026-07-16
Drawing from their experience delivering tens of thousands of hours of data, the Super Dimension Power team points out that while embodied AI data is a viable business, simply "selling collection hours" easily leads to price wars and a labor-centric model. Robots don't need generic first-person video; they require high-value data that includes failure recovery, rich semantic annotations, and alignment with real-world deployment feedback.
The value of embodied data depends on whether it addresses four core questions: the capabilities the model needs to learn, necessary modalities, quality and quantity, and real-world feedback. Over-standardized data fails to provide generalization, while data lacking semantic annotations only teaches models superficial actions. The truly defensible business of the future will be building a complete closed loop of "data collection, model training, evaluation, and real-machine deployment feedback," transforming data into the foundational infrastructure for continuously improving robotic capabilities.
