Bloomberg reports that OpenAI is developing a screenless, movable speaker-like hardware that uses ChatGPT voice to control smart home devices.
Described as a "computer designed for AI," the device will feature built-in cameras and various sensors to understand the user's environment and context. Voice interaction is powered by the newly launched GPT-Live, supporting more natural duplex conversations. Complex tasks are offloaded to more powerful models, and the device can proactively offer suggestions based on schedules, emails, and habits. Sources also indicate OpenAI currently has about 5 hardware devices in planning or development, with this first product being just the starting point of their broader hardware ecosystem.
