TerraFirma Raises $115 Million in Funding

TerraFirma is an independent startup founded by former SpaceX employees Noah Schochet and Noah McGuinness. Serving as CEO and CTO respectively, both are Princeton graduates who worked on Starlink, Starship, and Starshield.
The company recently closed roughly $115 million in funding, including a $100 million Series A led by Kleiner Perkins, with participation from Bain Capital Ventures and others. It builds remote/semi-autonomous robotic construction equipment, such as excavators, supporting controls via Xbox-like gamepads and combining AI with human collaboration.
Currently, the product is deployed on actual construction sites in Texas for Starbucks excavation, demolition, and site preparation. The company's narrative centers on applying SpaceX-style first principles to solve efficiency, cost, and safety bottlenecks in the construction industry—building real tech and revenue first before expanding into heavier infrastructure and larger-scale projects.
