StepFun Unveils Agentic Phone Solution

StepFun has launched a comprehensive agentic terminal solution, featuring the AI hardware brand STEPX, the agent-native OS StepAS, and the primary agent Amoo. The core focus isn't on hardware specs, but rather exploring whether traditional app-centric operating systems can handle the transition of AI from simply "answering" to actually "acting."
StepAS is designed as a combination of a "model matrix + agent-native OS." Models handle perception, memory, and planning, while the system connects services, allocates resources, and executes tasks. Commercially, StepFun positions STEPX beyond mere hardware sales or pre-installation/ad revenue sharing. Instead, it aims to explore new business models like hardware, system licensing, model API calls, and subscriptions.
