Nadella on AI's Knowledge Paradox
xiaohu · x · 2026-07-13
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella introduced the concept of a "reverse information paradox" regarding enterprise AI use:
- While paying to invoke models, companies are forced to feed internal knowledge, processes, and judgment criteria to the model for it to truly understand the business.
- This implies enterprises might "pay twice for intelligence": first as the model API fee, and second by surrendering their most hard-to-replicate experience and knowledge to the model.
- Borrowing economist Kenneth Arrow's classic description of information goods, he emphasized that knowledge is difficult to price before it's sold, but once it's seen, the buyer has already acquired it.
