LLM-Paper Rewriting Skews AI Peer Review
sanmikoyejo · x · 2026-07-11
This ICML spotlight paper discusses a phenomenon dubbed paper laundering: using LLMs to rewrite papers can manipulate the scores given by AI reviewers.
The authors argue that this proves current AI reviewers are insufficient for automating peer review. The paper further suggests that building a robust scientific framework for review automation is a prerequisite before trusting existing models as reliable judges.
