NYT Explores Alibaba and the Open Source Monetization Dilemma

Kevin Xu shared his views in the New York Times on the monetization models of Alibaba and open source models (discussed with Kyle Chan and others). He pointed out that commercializing open source models is a tough business full of difficult trade-offs, but given previous successful precedents, it is not impossible. This reflects the core challenge open source AI vendors face in their path to monetization.
