Push for a Stricter Minimax Definition of AGI

yaringal · x · 2026-07-06

Yarin Gal, in discussions with Yann LeCun and others, advocates for a stricter "minimax" AGI definition: for any chosen cognitive task, AGI should at least match a random person on the street. He argues that the tasks listed by LeCun should be included, otherwise it's just "AI". This is a substantive debate on the AGI threshold.
