Scale AI CEO: Meta's New Model Ties GPT-5.5, Zuckerberg Admits Agent Lag

Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang reportedly revealed at an internal Meta meeting that Meta's next-generation model (codenamed Watermelon) has tied GPT-5.5, released in April this year, in benchmark tests. However, the model is still training with no clear release date. If it takes another 2-3 months, OpenAI might have already released a newer version, meaning Meta isn't actually closing the gap.

At the same meeting, Zuckerberg admitted that the acceleration of AI Agent development over the past four months has fallen short of expectations, and previous internal reorganizations haven't yielded the desired results. This is a rare internal acknowledgment of slowing progress in Meta's AI strategy.
