Researchers point out that AI's impact on employment goes far beyond simple job replacement. Even if a profession isn't fully automated, practitioners face elimination if they cannot produce LLM-level results. Top AI models are now widely accessible, allowing anyone to generate medium-quality work with LLMs. Employers have established this as a minimum expectation—anything below this standard will no longer be accepted. Many white-collar workers lack basic AI literacy or haven't realized that industry expectations have fundamentally shifted. This will further exacerbate employment polarization, pushing many into effectively unemployable situations.
