Inference and network plumbing at OpenAI: Of OpenAI's 15 new roles, four are infrastructure engineering: "Software Engineer, Infranomics", "Software Engineer, Traffic Infrastructure", "Network Infrastructure Engineer, Global Network Infra (WAN)" and "Software Engineer, IP Infrastructure". A fifth, "Commissioning and Quality Program Manager", also sits in Scaling, and "Senior Procurement Manager – Infrastructure Complex Deals" in Finance rounds out the compute-buildout picture.
Anthropic leans toward physical compute and enterprise sales abroad: It opened "Staff / Senior Data Center Security Engineer" and "Senior Field Engineer, Data Center Design and Engineering". It also posted "Enterprise Account Executive, Public Sector" in both Milan and Madrid, plus "Enterprise Account Executive - Semiconductors" in London.
Safety and integrity work at Meta AI: Four of Meta AI's six new roles touch trust and safety: "Research Scientist Intern, Integrity (Trust and Safety) AI (PhD)", "Research Scientist Intern, Integrity AI (PhD)", "Research Scientist Intern, Scam and Trust (PhD)" and "Research Engineer - AI Safety Systems and Guardrails". The rest are an AI Infra intern and an "ML Innovation for Products, PhD Research Intern" role.
Silicon and hardware at NVIDIA: New roles include "Senior Mask Design Engineer - Hardware", "Senior SRAM Engineer, Circuit Design" and "Senior Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing & Supplier Engineering" in Shenzhen.
ByteDance closes a large batch: ByteDance Doubao/Seed (字节跳动豆包/Seed) closed 56 roles in 24 hours and added 3. Across the 32 companies tracked, 64 roles were added and 124 closed in the day.

Company moves

OpenAI added 15 and closed 12, and its open count stands at 812.

Beyond infrastructure, it listed government and trust roles: "Account Director, Federal Partnerships (Defense)" in Washington, DC, plus "Trusted Access Operations Lead" and "Trusted Access Operations Specialist".
It also added international coverage: "Europe Trade Compliance Lead" in Dublin and "Incident Commander, Detection & Response - APAC", the latter open across many Asia-Pacific locations.
"Engineering Manager, Guardian" is based in London. The marketing and people roles are "Art Director" and "Employer Brand, Communications & Social".

Anthropic added 10 and closed 18, so it shrank on net. Beyond the compute and sales roles above, it added "Staff+ Software Engineer, Enterprise Connectivity", "Staff+ Software Engineer, Deployment" and "Senior Engineer, Bioinformatics". Finance and people each got a role: "Senior Manager, Order-to-Cash Assurance" and "Business Recruiter" in Dublin.

Google DeepMind added 3 and closed 5. Two are program-management roles, "Technical Program Manager, Compute Management, DeepMind" and "Technical Program Manager, End-to-End AI Systems Integration, DeepMind". The third is "Research Engineer, Gemini Personalization Research, DeepMind". All are in Mountain View.

Meta AI added 6 and closed 2, almost all research internships and safety work, as described above.

NVIDIA added 8 and closed 5. Besides the silicon roles, it listed "Senior Data Analyst, Capacity Management - DGX Cloud", "Senior Systems Performance Engineer", "Software Engineer, Performance Instrumentation" and "Developer Technology Engineer – AI". It also posted "System Level Product Engineer (RDSS Intern)" in Hsinchu.

Apple AIML added 4 and closed 4: "AI Software Engineer, App Intelligence", "Applied AI Engineer", "Machine Learning Engineer, Computer Vision" and a signal-processing role in Herzliya.

SpaceXAI added 2 and closed 3. "Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Memphis" sits in its Data Center department. The other is "Sr. Analyst, Monetization Operations", filed under Safety.

Cohere added 4 and closed 1. The roles are "Forward Deployed Engineer, Inference", "Customer Success Manager, Public Sector & Defence", "Head of Marketing Operations" and "PR & Communications Manager - Germany".

Perplexity added 2 and closed none: "Sales Onboarding Manager" and "Customer Success Lead".

ModelBest (面壁智能) added 4 and closed none. They are "前线部署工程师（FDE）" (forward deployed engineer), "客户经理（苏州）" (account manager, Suzhou), "人事行政经理" (HR and admin manager) and "苏州子公司副总经理" (deputy GM of the Suzhou subsidiary).

Baidu AI (百度 AI) added 3 and closed 5, including "AI Agent研发Leader（J106833）" (AI agent R&D lead), "全栈研发工程师（J106765）" (full-stack engineer) and "风控策略算法工程师（J105889）" (risk-control algorithm engineer), all in PSIG, Beijing.

ByteDance Doubao/Seed closed 56 and added 3. The new roles are "豆包AI大模型算力资源管理（火山方舟MaaS） - Data AML" (Doubao compute resource management), "交易搜索商家策略运营（For豆包平台） - 抖音搜索" (merchant strategy operations for the Doubao platform) and "后端开发工程师（AI方向） - Seed 产品研发" (backend engineer, AI).

Several other companies recorded closures with no additions. Anthropic's 18 is covered above. Lovable closed 3 and Scale AI closed 3. Tencent Hunyuan (腾讯混元) closed 2. Together AI, Cerebras, Moonshot AI (月之暗面 Kimi), Meituan LongCat (美团·龙猫) and 01.AI (零一万物) each closed 1. Microsoft AI, Mistral AI, Cursor, Pika Labs, Aleph Alpha, Genmo, DeepSeek (深度求索), Zhipu AI (智谱 AI), MiniMax (MiniMax 海螺), SenseTime SenseNova (商汤日日新) and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen (阿里通义千问) showed no additions and no closures in the last day.

What it signals

The seven-day figures show a field growing at very different speeds. The 17 global companies with additions posted 331 new roles in seven days, against 69 for the Chinese labs. OpenAI (67) and Meta AI (59) lead, followed by Anthropic (39), Apple AIML (35), NVIDIA (32) and Google DeepMind (31). OpenAI's 812 open roles and Anthropic's 673 are close to their larger-company peers. Microsoft AI's 622 open roles come with zero additions in seven days, so that hiring has stopped and the listings are not turning over.

The mix at the leading labs points to infrastructure and go-to-market work, not only research. OpenAI's day was dominated by scaling, networking and procurement roles, and Anthropic's by data-center engineering and sales hires in Europe. Both pair that with security and trust-oriented operations roles. Meta AI's 59 additions over seven days are mostly research roles, with a clear emphasis on safety and integrity today. This is a pattern from one day's titles. It does not show how the seven-day total is split.

Chinese hiring is concentrated and quiet. Only StepFun (阶跃星辰, 27 added in seven days), Baidu AI (12), ModelBest (9), MiniMax (8) and ByteDance Doubao/Seed (8) added anything over seven days, and Moonshot AI, DeepSeek, Zhipu AI, Meituan LongCat and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen added none. StepFun's 27 appeared without any new titles in today's data, so the roles arrived earlier in the week. ModelBest's day is commercial: a forward deployed engineer role and Suzhou sales and management roles. ByteDance's 56 closures, against 818 open roles, look like a clean-out of listings and not a retreat, but the data does not say which.

Small and mid-sized companies are mostly flat. Cursor, Lovable, Together AI, Scale AI and Cerebras each added between 3 and 6 roles in seven days, and Pika Labs added 1. Mistral AI and Aleph Alpha added none. Cohere (11) and Perplexity (15) are the exceptions, both leaning toward customer success and sales, which fits the commercial focus visible at the larger labs.
