Physical compute build-out: Anthropic listed "Data Center Facility Operations Lead - Commissioning & Delivery" (Compute). SpaceXAI listed "Supercompute Operations Engineering", "Supervisor, Fleet Maintenance" and "Megapack Field Technician - Memphis", all in Southaven, MS and Memphis, TN. These are roles for running sites, not for training models.
Silicon and hardware: Meta AI added "ASIC Package Engineer" and "Global Supply Chain Operations Manager". NVIDIA added "Senior SoC Architect, Control Plane and Management Interconnect", "Mixed-Signal Design Engineer – RTL and Co-Simulation" and "Senior Package Layout Engineer - Hardware", all in Bengaluru. Cerebras added "Power Manufacturing Test Development Engineer".
Public sector and international go-to-market: Anthropic posted "Applied AI Architect, Public Sector (Federal Civilan)" and "Applied AI Architect, Public Sector (GovTech)". OpenAI posted "SDR Manager" in Dublin. Cohere posted "Manager, Government Affairs & Public Policy - Japan".
3D and multimodal at Apple: Apple AIML added 15 roles, including three postings of "CVML Engineer - 3D Reconstruction" and two of "Multimodal LLMs Research Engineer", all in Sunnyvale.
Net-negative day: Across the 32 companies tracked, 87 roles were added and 98 were closed. OpenAI closed 15, ByteDance Doubao/Seed closed 16, and Anthropic closed 13.

Company moves

Meta AI added 14 roles, the most of any lab except Apple. Eight are PhD-level research internships, covering recommendation systems, wearable sensing, computational photography and FAIR work in multimodal foundations and chemistry. The rest are infrastructure: "Engineering Manager - Strategic Infrastructure Capacity Planning", "ASIC Package Engineer" and the supply chain role. There is also "Research Scientist, CBRNE AI Safety".

Apple AIML added 15 roles, all in Machine Learning and AI. Beyond the 3D and multimodal postings, it listed "Machine Learning Engineer — Foundation Models" and a "Machine Learning Research Intern" in Beijing. It also listed "Apple Media Products - Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Language AI" in Singapore. Several titles end in "Proactive", and there are three postings of "AI/ML Engineer: System RF Data Ecosystem".

OpenAI added 9 and closed 15. The new roles are mostly product and commercial: "Full Stack Software Engineer, Monetization Platform", "Principal Software Engineer, ChatGPT Education and Learning", "Principal Software Engineer, Productivity" and "Product Designer, Growth". The only research-side title is a "Software Engineer" in Research.

Anthropic added 9 and closed 13. Beyond the data center role, it listed "Strategic Deals Lead, Compute & Infrastructure" in Finance, which points to compute contracting. It also listed "Head of Sales Excellence & Methodology", "Partner Enablement Lead, Beneficial Deployments", and "International Finance Program Management" in Dublin.

Google DeepMind added 6, mostly research and applied roles. They include "Research Scientist, GenAI, DeepMind", "Research Scientist, Frontier Health, DeepMind" and "Senior UX Model Designer, Trust and Safety, GeminiApp, DeepMind".

NVIDIA added 7. Besides the Bengaluru chip roles, it listed "Reinforcement Learning and World Model for Autonomous Simulation Intern - 2027" in Shanghai and "Senior Research Scientist, AI for Cybersecurity".

Perplexity added 6, including "Member of Technical Staff (AI Policy and Strategic Initiatives)", "Senior Commercial Counsel, Enterprise" and "Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Fraud Prevention)" in London and Belgrade. SpaceXAI also added two "Regulatory Legal Counsel" roles, in Dublin and London, and "Client Partner - Gaming" in Singapore.

Cohere added 3, all public-sector, policy or legal. Lovable added two finance roles in Stockholm, "Accounting Close Lead" and "Head of Technical Accounting & Reporting". Scale AI added "Creative Advisor - Human Frontier Collective (US)".

MiniMax (Hailuo) (MiniMax 海螺) added 3: "AI Infra 平台研发工程师-故障治理" (AI infra platform engineer, fault management), "算力平台研发工程师-资源管理与可靠性" (compute platform engineer, resource management and reliability) and "大模型系统评测工程师" (LLM system evaluation engineer). 01.AI (Yi) (零一万物) added "AI 产品经理" and "产品经理｜AI Native 智算平台" (AI-native compute platform PM). ByteDance Doubao/Seed (字节跳动豆包/Seed) added two Hangzhou backend roles, including "资深后端开发工程师（飞书项目） - Seed 产品研发", against 16 closures. StepFun (阶跃星辰) added "FP&A" and closed 3.

Microsoft AI, Mistral AI, Together AI, Pika Labs, Aleph Alpha, Genmo, Cursor and the other Chinese labs added nothing today. Cursor closed 4, and ModelBest, Baidu AI and Tencent Hunyuan also closed roles.

What it signals

The 7-day figures show where hiring is concentrated. The 19 global companies added 335 roles over the week and the 13 Chinese labs added 53. Meta AI leads with 71, followed by Anthropic (62), OpenAI (49), Google DeepMind (35) and NVIDIA (33). Today's pattern fits the weekly one. Meta's mix of interns, ASIC and capacity planning, plus the Memphis operations roles at SpaceXAI and the data center role at Anthropic, suggest the largest labs are hiring for compute capacity as well as research.

The gap between the two groups is large. Microsoft AI has 622 open roles and Mistral AI has 168, yet both added nothing in seven days. Among the Chinese labs, ModelBest (面壁智能) added 13 and ByteDance Doubao/Seed added 13. Baidu AI (百度 AI) added 10 and MiniMax added 6. Zhipu AI (智谱 AI), DeepSeek (深度求索), Meituan LongCat (美团·龙猫), SenseTime SenseNova (商汤日日新) and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen (阿里通义千问) added nothing. The Chinese hiring we can see is also less research-heavy today. It is mostly infrastructure at MiniMax, product management at 01.AI and backend work at ByteDance.

Two caveats apply. Closures can mean a role was filled or a posting was cleaned up, so the 98 closures today are not evidence of a hiring slowdown. And one day of titles is a small sample, so the hardware, public-sector and international themes above are things to watch, not established trends.
