Safety and biosecurity: Google DeepMind added "Technical Program Manager, Biosecurity, DeepMind" in London. It also added "Research Scientist, Multimodal Alignment, Safety and Fairness, DeepMind". Anthropic added "Incident Manager, Safeguards".
Agents and inference: Perplexity listed "Member of Technical Staff (AI Software Engineer, Agents)". Apple AIML listed "Senior Software Engineering Manager, Agentic Infrastructure" in Seattle. NVIDIA listed "Senior Technical Program Manager, AI Inference".

Company moves

OpenAI added 6 roles and closed 11. All six are non-research: "Community Communications Lead", "Senior Counsel, EU Policy/Regulatory" in London, and three finance and operations roles. Those three are "Procurement Operations Specialist", "Senior Manager, Supplier MDM Operations" and "Strategic Finance Generalist". The sixth is "Creative Partnerships, Onboarding and Enablement Manager". This is mostly company-building work: regulatory presence in Europe, supplier and procurement systems, and partnerships.

Anthropic added 5 and closed 2. The set includes "Enterprise Account Executive - Manufacturing Industries, Taiwan", listed under Singapore, which suggests Asia-Pacific enterprise sales. The rest are "Product Counsel", "Communications Manager, Claude Platform", "Incident Manager, Safeguards" and "Senior Data Center Capacity Delivery Manager".

Meta AI added 6 and closed 2. Four are PhD internships. Two are FAIR internships in Paris, "Research Scientist Intern - Omnilingual - FAIR" and "Research Scientist Intern - Content Seal - FAIR". The other two are the Redmond robotics internships. The remaining two are AI infrastructure management roles: the MTIA kernels role and "Software Engineering Manager, Systems Machine Learning".

Perplexity added 4 and closed 2. Beyond the agents role, it listed "Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Training Infrastructure)" and "Member of Technical Staff (AI Policy and Strategic Initiatives)", the last in San Francisco and Washington D.C. It also listed "Compensation Lead".

Google DeepMind added 2 roles, the biosecurity program manager and the multimodal alignment scientist, and closed none.

NVIDIA added 2 and closed 1: "Research Scientist - Nemotron India" and the inference program manager. Apple AIML added 2 and closed 1: the agentic infrastructure manager and an "Applied Research Engineer/Scientist" in Cupertino.

SpaceXAI, Cohere and Together AI each added 1. Cohere's is "Engineering Manager, Cohere APIs and DevEx" across Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Together AI's is "Forward Deployed Engineer, Post-Training".

MiniMax (Hailuo) was the only China-based lab to add a role: "AI Infra 存储研发工程师 / 专家（多方向、多 HC）" (storage R&D engineer or expert for AI infrastructure, multiple directions and headcount), in Shanghai.

Among the Chinese labs, ByteDance Doubao/Seed closed 17 roles with no additions. Baidu AI and Meituan LongCat each closed 1. Scale AI closed 1. The other companies were unchanged.

What it signals

The 7-day figures show a clear gap in pace. Meta AI added 77 roles over the week, Anthropic 63, OpenAI 49, Google DeepMind 37 and NVIDIA 34. The 14 global companies that added roles posted 349 between them, and the 8 Chinese labs that added roles posted 54. Today's flow is thinner than that pace implies, because closures outnumbered additions. Weekly additions at that scale suggest steady churn rather than a one-off hiring wave.

The mix of roles differs by lab. OpenAI's new roles today are legal, finance and partnerships, and Anthropic's are legal, communications, safeguards and sales. Both look like organizations scaling their operating functions. Meta AI's pattern is different: research internships in robotics and FAIR, plus infrastructure management around its MTIA silicon software. SpaceXAI and Anthropic are both hiring for physical sites, with a power plant operations manager and a data center capacity delivery manager. That fits the idea that compute delivery is now a hiring problem as well as a procurement one.

Among the Chinese labs, ModelBest (13) and ByteDance Doubao/Seed (13) lead the 7-day additions. Baidu AI follows with 10 and MiniMax (Hailuo) with 7. Alibaba Tongyi Qwen, DeepSeek, Zhipu AI, Meituan LongCat and SenseTime SenseNova added nothing over seven days. A zero is not a sign of a small team here: Zhipu AI has 237 open roles and ByteDance has 863, so the numbers mostly show that open requisitions are being held steady. MiniMax's storage role is the only visible infrastructure signal from China today.

Some caution is warranted. A single day is a small sample, and closures can mean a role was filled as easily as cancelled. Microsoft AI (622 open), Mistral AI (168), Pika Labs, Aleph Alpha and Genmo showed no additions over seven days, so there is no signal to read from them this week.
