StepFun is hiring for the stack below the model: StepFun (阶跃星辰) added "AIDC 数据中心专家" (data center expert), "Linux Kernel 研发工程师" (Linux kernel engineer) and "服务器选型资深工程师" (senior server-selection engineer). It also added two data roles, "大模型数据架构工程师" and "训练数据闭环工程师". Its 72 additions over seven days are the most of any Chinese lab.
Hardware, perception and multimodal at NVIDIA: Titles include "Senior Package Layout Engineer - Hardware", "Senior Perception Software Engineer", "Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Prediction - Autonomous Driving" and "Research Scientist, Multimodal Foundation Models".
Safety and security roles are scattered: Google DeepMind listed "Product Manager, CBRNE, DeepMind". Scale AI listed "Safety Research Scholar - Human Frontier Labs". ByteDance Doubao/Seed (字节跳动豆包/Seed) listed "大模型安全策略工程师 - 安全与风控" (LLM safety strategy engineer). Together AI listed "Hardware Security Engineer, New Grad (2027)".

Company moves

OpenAI added 11 roles and closed 13, leaving 808 open. The additions lean toward marketing and corporate functions. They include "Content Studio Lead", "Director of Events Management", "Audio Engineer, Live Video", "Creative Lead, Japan" in Tokyo and "Product Designer, Higher Education". There is also one infrastructure-adjacent role, "Data Center Design Manager" in the Scaling department. Today's additions point to brand, events and market expansion more than to research.

Anthropic added 13 and closed 9, leaving 654 open. Beyond the Applied AI roles, it added "Community Engagement Manager, Data Centers (Montana & Utah)" under Public Policy. It also added "Technical Program Manager, SOX Compliance" and "Risk & Insurance Specialist". These suggest data-center siting work and finance and compliance build-out alongside the customer-facing growth, with London and Bangalore both appearing as locations.

Google DeepMind added 4 and closed 1, leaving 111 open. The titles are product and program roles: "Group Product Manager, Architectural Advances, Frontier AI, DeepMind", "Technical Program Manager, Responsibility, DeepMind" and "Software Engineer, Educational Simulations, DeepMind (Fixed-Term Contract)".

Meta AI added 5 and closed 4, leaving 233 open. All five roles are about physical build-out: network deployment, capacity planning and power and cooling supply chain.

NVIDIA (英伟达) added 8 and closed 7, leaving 563 open. The roles span autonomous driving, multimodal research, chip packaging, system performance and the "Senior System Software Engineer - AI SDK Multimedia platform". Locations include Bengaluru and Yokneam, Israel.

Together AI added 6 and closed 2, leaving 76 open. That is its entire 7-day addition count, so today's batch is the whole week for this company. It includes "Staff Software Engineer - AI Compute, Together Cloud" in Amsterdam, a hardware security new-grad role and an intern role, and "Director of Investor Relations".

Scale AI added 3 and closed 1, leaving 183 open. One role is "Frontier Agent Engineering Manager, Enterprise" in London.

Apple AIML (苹果 AIML) added 2: "Multimodal AI Applied Scientist, SIML - ISE" and "Machine Learning Engineer, System Experience - Proactive". It has 302 open.

SpaceXAI added 2 and closed 1, leaving 305 open. Both new roles are Memphis data-center positions.

Cursor added 1, "Executive Assistant - Japan" in Sales, and closed 2, leaving 133 open.

Chinese labs, other than StepFun:

StepFun added 5 and closed 1, leaving 297 open.
ByteDance Doubao/Seed added 3 and closed 4, leaving 879 open. Besides the safety role, it added "豆包AI大模型平台运营-火山方舟MaaS" (Doubao platform operations, Volcano Ark MaaS) and "大模型成本审核产品运营-TikTok Shop".
Baidu AI (百度 AI) added "AI4S行业销售经理（J106648）" (AI-for-science industry sales manager) and has 495 open.
Tencent Hunyuan (腾讯混元) added "混元大模型基础设施规划和运营工程师/专家（深圳/北京）" (Hunyuan infrastructure planning and operations engineer) but closed 3, leaving 70 open.
DeepSeek (深度求索) added "AI云服务解决方案架构师" (AI cloud solutions architect) and closed 2, leaving 36 open.

Perplexity, Cohere and Cerebras closed one posting each with no additions. Microsoft AI, Mistral AI, Lovable and the other unchanged labs showed no movement today.

What it signals

The 7-day figures show the global labs adding 254 roles across 19 companies, against 148 for the 13 Chinese labs. The global total is spread across several labs: NVIDIA (48), OpenAI (46), Anthropic (39), Meta AI (36) and Google DeepMind (32). The Chinese total is concentrated. StepFun's 72 accounts for nearly half, followed by Baidu AI at 34 and ByteDance Doubao/Seed at 24. The other ten Chinese labs together added 18. Zhipu AI (智谱 AI) and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen (阿里通义千问) added nothing over seven days.

Today's titles and the weekly pace together point to a heavy infrastructure theme. Meta AI's additions are all data-center and supply-chain roles, and SpaceXAI's are Memphis site and network roles. OpenAI and Anthropic each have a data-center role, and Tencent Hunyuan and StepFun each have infrastructure or data-center roles. The data does not show why, but several labs are posting for physical capacity at once.

The two largest US labs show different mixes. Anthropic's additions are mostly customer-facing technical roles, with Applied AI and international sales and partnership positions in London and Bangalore. OpenAI's are mostly marketing, with events, content, design and a Japan creative lead. Both also posted finance and operations roles. With 11 and 13 additions respectively, one day is a thin basis for calling it a strategy.

Several labs are quiet. Microsoft AI has 622 open roles and no additions in seven days. Mistral AI (168 open), Pika Labs, Genmo, Meituan LongCat (美团·龙猫) and the two Chinese labs named above are also flat. Flat additions do not show whether a board is stable or paused, since the data does not separate the two. Closures outpaced additions today at OpenAI (13 against 11), Cursor and Tencent Hunyuan. At ByteDance Doubao/Seed it was 4 against 3. Because the data does not say whether a closed role was filled or withdrawn, these differences should not be read as contraction.
