Krea 3 image editing model cracks arena top four

Krea officially launched its image editing model Krea 3 on October 15. According to Krea and multiple reposts (@minchoi, @aftahiai, etc.), Krea 3 performed strongly on the Artificial Analysis image editing arena: Ultra mode ranked fourth with 1151 Elo, behind only OpenAI's models; Fast mode completed 2K image edits within 8 seconds, pushing the speed-quality Pareto frontier. Krea also quipped that it is the only company in the top ten valued under $1 trillion.

Confirmed

• Krea 3 launched October 15, focused on production-grade editing: it modifies only user-selected regions (bounding box targeting) and supports multi-turn editing
• A single edit takes under 8 seconds, priced at $0.06 per image
• Ultra ranks fourth on the Artificial Analysis image editing leaderboard with 1151 Elo, behind only OpenAI's models and ahead of the Nano Banana series
• The official site's comparison page claims Krea 3 is 4x faster than Nano Banana Pro and faster than GPT Image 2

Not Yet Confirmed

• The "topping the leaderboard" claim comes only from Krea's own messaging — Ultra actually ranked fourth, not first; comparisons like "4x faster" are self-reported and lack third-party verification

Why It Matters

• With a small-to-mid-size team, Krea 3 broke into the top of leaderboards dominated by giants like OpenAI and Google, with clear differentiation on speed and cost (8 seconds, $0.06/image)
• Bounding-box local editing and multi-turn editing target real production workflows rather than pure text-to-image, potentially influencing designers' and content tools of choice
