Sakana AI Shows Frozen Vision Features Can Detect AI-Generated Images

Sakana AI's new work to be presented at ECCV 2026 shows that simple decision rules on frozen vision features can distinguish real from AI-generated images, and introduces Percept-Lens, an out-of-distribution framework exposing failures of existing detectors on unfamiliar generators.
