Claude Code Remote Control Upgraded: Start Sessions from Your Phone

Anthropic shipped a major upgrade to Claude Code's Remote Control: users can now start or resume locally running Claude Code sessions from phone, tablet, or any browser (claude.ai/code or the Claude mobile app), with cross-device sync. This addresses the most-requested fix from last month's user feedback, with significantly improved reliability.

• Sessions can be started from mobile devices and stay synced with the local machine, with automatic reconnection after disconnects
• Slash commands such as /clear, /compact, and /diff work on the remote end
• Any machine running claude remote-control appears as a device card at the top of the Code tab; clicking it and selecting a directory starts working on that machine

Why it matters

Remote control solves the core pain of not being able to follow AI coding tasks after leaving the terminal, evolving Claude Code from a terminal-only tool toward a cross-device workflow. As @gabrielchua notes, the feature still requires running a command in the terminal first and has limited scope, falling short of a true "set-and-forget" one-click global session experience.
