Per WSJ, US professional and business services added 70,000 jobs in October despite fears of an AI-driven white-collar apocalypse. AI-exposed sectors kept growing: management/scientific/technical consulting +17,300, legal services +2,400, accounting +2,300, advertising/PR +400, business support -100. Harvard economist David Deming sees no "white-collar job apocalypse" yet. But document preparation employment fell 17% YoY through September — the author argues this is an early precursor, since agentic AI hasn't truly hit the professional world yet.
