Cambridge's David Krueger: 'plan the pause' is a weird take spreading in AI Safety
DavidSKrueger · x · 2026-11-09
Cambridge AI Safety researcher David Krueger notes a common sentiment in the AI Safety community: "I'm not sure; I think we need a plan for how we're going to use the time during a pause." He finds this odd, arguing there are plenty of obvious things to do with more time.
In the thread, austinc3301 counters that people skeptical a pause would reduce P(doom) are usually non-safety folks or e/accs, and another reply argues the priority should be figuring out how to get a pause at all before planning what to do during it.
