Reddit Begins Testing Ads in Its Own Search Results with Keyword Relevance Matching
steveplunkett · x · 2026-11-09
Reddit announced it is testing ads in its search results pages with a select group of eligible advertisers. Ads are matched partly by contextual relevance to the query—searching "home office setup" may surface desks, chairs, or monitors—with example screenshots showing "Shop Now" cards placed under AI answers citing subreddits or between posts. Reddit says search placements leverage high purchase and search intent, and it will refine the experience based on user response; it did not disclose how advertisers were chosen or whether others can join.
