zephyr_z9 · x · 2026-11-08
Per Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron are working with SEMI to set common standards for robots in fabs, covering operation, charging and production-schedule interfaces. The effort targets retrofitting older fabs (e.g. Samsung Giheung, SK Hynix Cheongju lines) with heterogeneous robots toward unmanned operation—an industry first. The poster notes Samsung and Intel have both floated pilot fully automated fabs around 2030.
