Dev recreates r/place on his GitHub profile using a single HTML ismap image

A developer recreated Reddit's collaborative canvas r/place directly on his GitHub profile: visitors click squares to toggle pixels on a shared canvas.
The trick is surprisingly simple: the HTML ismap server-side image map attribute. Clicking an ismap image automatically sends the click coordinates as ?x,y to the linked server (a Cloudflare Worker here), which records the pixel and re-renders the SVG canvas. A <picture> element with prefers-color-scheme handles dark/light themes.
