Subagent failures are delegation failures: brief with goals, not step-by-step instructions
PawelHuryn · x · 2026-11-08
PawelHuryn argues most subagent problems are delegation failures: step-by-step instructions yield mindless compliance. Instead, hand the delegate the why — the goal, who it's for, binding constraints, traps a smart newcomer would hit, and how the result will be proved. An instruction-only brief gets X changed to Y even when Y is wrong; a brief with the goal returns judgement. Manage agents like a good owner manages you: goal and context, trust on means, push back where needed — but its view isn't binding.
