GPU ran 16s→11s per image after cooling fix: thermal throttling unlocked
elittle1234 · reddit · 2026-11-08
On an RTX 6000 96GB, flux1dev fp8 generation of a 1216x1664 image took 16 seconds. After installing MSI Afterburner and setting a new fan curve (VRAM dropped from 90°C to 80°C), generation fell to 11 seconds.
But reinstalling the reactor node pulled in new numpy/torch wheels, and times reverted to 16s — unfixable even after rolling back versions. The author suspects VRAM thermal throttling or dependency conflicts and is weighing a clean reinstall, sharing the Afterburner 4.65 fan-curve setup for Windows 11.
