chaitjo · x · 2026-11-08
Richard Sutton responded to critics invoking his own Bitter Lesson against him, arguing that brute force computation alone is insufficient for intelligence and that clever new methods are still needed — the science of AI is far from finished. Reposter @anuroopsriram adds that the lesson isn't that algorithms don't matter, but that we need algorithms that scale better with compute; at scale, algorithm design matters more, not less.
