Google Pushes Pop-ups in AI Mode to Get Users to Opt Into Personal Intelligence
OnlineInference · x · 2026-11-08
Per Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable, Google is showing pop-up notifications in AI Mode urging searchers to turn on Personal Intelligence. The popup says "Supercharge Search with Personal Intelligence" and asks users to connect more Google apps for personalized results, while stressing users stay in control and can opt out anytime — it also works without connected content apps.
Spotted by Sachin Patel and shared on Search Engine Watch. Schwartz notes Google has done similar things before, but finds this popup "a bit extreme." Enabling Personal Intelligence also activates connected apps within AI Mode.
