LittlePly: a chess agent combining transformer policy, value search and bounded Stockfish help
andreisavu · x · 2026-11-08
An update on the author's LittlePly chess agent side quest. The transformer reads the played move history as chess tokens, and a single forward pass produces next-move and win/draw/loss probabilities. A separate rules implementation tracks the board and filters illegal moves. The overall system combines a transformer policy, position value estimates, selective tree search, and bounded Stockfish assistance.
